Below is a more or less complete list of the films I have watched in theaters since my 2016 arrival in Hong Kong. Because I am The Critic’s “plus one,” I don’t generally choose the films I see and some are viewed prior to their release in HK. Reviewed films are in bold. Parentheses indicate films in a language other than English and/or of non-US origin. An asterisk (*) indicates a documentary.

A note: Despite the party line of “one China,” I distinguish China from Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau. Each of these places has its own sense of cultural identity, and that identity is reflected in their films.
